There’s a mysterious link between the destiny of humanity and the destiny of nature. In Romans 8, Paul tells us that creation is eagerly awaiting its own freedom from death and decay, which will come when humanity is redeemed. The Bible says creation was cursed because of humanity, so it will also be glorified along with humanity.
“For the creation waits in eager expectation for the children of God to be revealed. For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by its own choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be liberated from its bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory of the children of God.” (Rm 8:19-21)
In the Genesis account of the Garden of Eden, after the fall of mankind, the serpent was cursed to crawl on its belly and eat dust. Eve’s pain in childbirth was increased. But God did not curse Adam directly. Instead, He cursed the ground because of Adam, making life more difficult by causing the earth to bring forth thorns and thistles.
